Adding Properties

Properties are the foundation of your portfolio in OntarioLandlord. Each property can have multiple units.

Adding Your First Property

Step 1: Navigate to Properties

  1. Click Properties in the sidebar
  2. Click the Add Property button

Step 2: Enter Property Details

Step 3: Add Units

After creating the property, you'll be prompted to add units:

  • Single unit property: Add one unit (e.g., "Main Unit" or just "1")
  • Multi-unit property: Add each unit separately (e.g., "Unit 1", "Unit 2", "Basement")

Step 4: Save

Click Save Property to complete the setup.

Editing Properties

  1. Go to Properties
  2. Click on the property you want to edit
  3. Click the Edit button
  4. Make your changes
  5. Click Save

Deleting Properties

Deleting a property will also delete all associated units, leases, and payment records. This action cannot be undone.

  1. Go to Properties
  2. Click on the property
  3. Click Delete Property
  4. Confirm the deletion

Best Practices

  1. Use consistent naming - Use the same format for all addresses
  2. Add all units upfront - Makes lease creation easier
  3. Include property type - Helps with filtering and reporting
  4. Add notes - Record important details like parking, utilities included, etc.
