Managing Units
Units represent individual rentable spaces within a property. Each lease is associated with one unit.
Understanding Units
| Concept | Description |
|---|---|
| Property | The building or address |
| Unit | A rentable space within the property |
| Lease | Agreement for a tenant to occupy a unit |
Examples
- Single family home: One property, one unit
- Duplex: One property, two units
- Apartment building: One property, many units
Adding Units
From Property Detail Page
- Go to Properties → Select a property
- In the Units section, click Add Unit
- Enter unit details:
- Unit Number/Name (e.g., "1", "Basement", "Suite A")
- Bedrooms (optional)
- Bathrooms (optional)
- Square Footage (optional)
- Click Save
During Property Creation
When creating a new property, you can add units immediately after saving the property address.
Unit Details

| Unit Name | Identifier (e.g., "Unit 1", "Basement") |
| Bedrooms | Number of bedrooms |
| Bathrooms | Number of bathrooms |
| Square Feet | Unit size |
| Status | Vacant or Occupied |
Unit Status
Units automatically update their status based on leases:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Vacant | No active lease |
| Occupied | Has an active lease |
Editing Units
- Go to Properties → Select property
- Find the unit in the Units list
- Click the Edit icon
- Make changes
- Click Save
Deleting Units

You cannot delete a unit that has active leases. End or delete the lease first.
- Navigate to the unit
- Click Delete Unit
- Confirm deletion
Viewing Unit History
Click on a unit to see:
- Current lease (if occupied)
- Past leases
- Payment history
- Maintenance tickets
Tips for Unit Management
- Name units clearly - Use names that match how you refer to them
- Track all rentable spaces - Even parking spots or storage if rented separately
- Keep details updated - Square footage affects some notices
